She has also been nominated for two Academy Awards. Some of her notable works include "Educating Rita", "Billy Elliot", "Mamma Mia!", the "Harry Potter" series and the "Paddington" series. In addition to her acting career, she is known for her charity work and was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2017 for her contribution to the arts. She is married to Grant Roffey and has a daughter, Maisie Mae Roffey.
