Martine Rothblatt graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1981 with J.D. and M.B.A. degrees. She founded United Therapeutics in 1996 and has been Chairman and CEO of the company ever since. She is also known for founding SiriusXM. In 1994, at the age of 40, she came out as transgender and changed her name to Martine Aliana Rothblatt and became a vocal advocate for transgender rights.Her career has spanned various fields, from satellite communications to medical biochemistry to cognitive software. She founded the Terasem movement, a transhumanist school of thought that focuses on promoting joy and diversity. Rothblatt's company, United Therapeutics, has developed successful treatments for pulmonary hypertension and neuroblastoma. She is also known for her vision of a future in which transplantable organs and 3D-printed organs will be readily available, potentially saving countless lives. Her goal is to use technology to create an "unlimited supply of transplantable organs".
