Jerome Powell is an American attorney and investment banker who has served as the 16th Chair of the Federal Reserve since 2018. He also serves as Chairman of the Federal Open Market Committee.
Before joining the Federal Reserve, Powell served as an Assistant Secretary and as Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Treasury under President George H.W. Bush. He was responsible for policy on financial institutions, the Treasury debt market, and related areas
